Principal's Message
Welcome to Helmsburg
Elementary where We Believe and Achieve!
(Boundless, Empowered, Lifelong
learners, Initiators, Enlightened, Valued,
Encouraged)
Our
school is set in a beautiful rural setting in the northwest
corner of Brown County, Indiana. We serve students in grades
PreK – 6, with Kindergarten being a full day program. We are
a School-wide Title I school with one Title I teacher
serving our children. We are one of four elementary schools
in the county. The school day begins at 7:50 a.m. and ends
at 3:30 p.m.
Our building is also the
focal point of many community activities. The facilities are
used throughout the year for family reunions, basketball,
softball, baseball, volleyball, soccer, Boy Scouts, Girls
Scouts, and adult recreation. In addition, the school is
used as a polling station on Election Day and as a site for
the Brown County Schools’ After-School Care Program.
Helmsburg’s staff is an
experienced group of individuals who are dedicated to the
academic achievement of each child. We believe that the
students learn in a variety of ways and the teachers strive
to meet those needs. We also believe that Helmsburg provides
a safe and secure environment for children. High standards
that are set by our staff can be reached when a child feels
cared for and safe. Helmsburg provides this “family” type of
atmosphere.
